Hailing from Scotland's West Highlands, I was born in Spruce Grove, Alberta, and I'm so excited to be joining Aligra as the Whisky Westie Mascot! Historically, West Highland White Terriers were bred to hunt rodents and many of us lucky ones lived in and around Scottish castles keeping our Master's grounds (and home!) mouse free. It's a sport I'd love to take up here in Edmonton. Right now, there's an annoying squirrel who lives in our back woods and garden shed that I'want to chase around and get my paws on! I keep watch on him from the back of the couch to make sure he doesn't get into our house. Annoying how he scurries up trees and swings through the branches, showing off for me.
My other hobbies are going for long walks and playing with all my squeaky toys that keep getting put away in a box. I prefer to have them out and around me in every room in the house. One of my favourite sports is chasing the tennis ball in the park. I'm a fast runner! I'm really good at catching it and bringing it back to be thrown again, most of the time, unless I'm distracted by a delicious scent in the woods, or I see a dog I'd like to meet and play with. Another favourite passtime is hiding socks, shoes and other fun things when my humans are out of the house. Sometimes they don't find them for days!!
I love the winter snow! it's so much fun to frolick about in it, rub my face in it and especially drag my belly through the cool white flakes! I eat a healthy diet, and my favourite snacks are carrots, apples and potato chips. Often, when my humans are having a cocktail or whiskey, they give me a chip or two. Love the crunchy sound!
Watch for my monthly whisky picks in the Staff Picks page on this website. I look forward to sharing some good ones with you. There's so many and fortunately, I like to try them all!
