With a hotel and foodie background,  Ken Forrester found his calling in winemaking.  His award winning wines, especially the renowned Chenin Blancs are finally back on our shelves after a hiatus of a few years.  We couldn't be more pleased!  From his "Petit" line for everyday enjoyment, to his cellarable FMC and The Gypsy, these well made wines will not disappoint.

 He's our guest Winemaker in the store this afternoon June 7th for a tasting from 4-6 pm.  If you couldn't make it, then we thought you would at least like to know which wines are available.  Here's the list for you.  Please call us to order your favourites, or drop by and pick up a bottle or two.  Chenin Blanc is THE white wine for the summer!

**2016 PETIT CHENIN BLANC   +790303                                                            

100% Chenin Blanc. Great everyday drinking wine. Youthful and fresh. Quince and pear, with crunchy green apples and grapefruit flavours                                                                          $18.99

100% Sauvignon Blanc.  Lovely complexity with mix of tropical fruit, tangy grassy notes with fig leaves and nectarine nuances, crisp, dry finish.                                                                           $18.99        

 

2016 PETIT PINOTAGE  +790305

100% Pinotage.  Classic aromas of spicy mulberries, plum pudding and cherries, with smoky bacon nuances.  Juicy, soft palate with delicious fruit concentration.  Unoaked.                    $18.99

 

2016 SAUVIGNON BLANC RESERVE  +790306

100% Sauvignon Blanc.  Complex, with grassy notes, fig leaf, peach and nectarine nuances. Brisk acidity with minerality on the palate.  Typical of the cool region and terroir.                      $24.99

 

**2016 OLD VINE RESERVE CHENIN BLANC

100% Chenin Blanc.  Golden hued and full bodied. Melon, spicy and baked apple aromas. Layered, mineral notes enhanced with honeycomb and caramel from lees contact. A harmonious balance between fruit and delicate oak, vanilla flavours offering great body and versatility with food.            $24.99

 

2014 MERLOT RESERVE PAT'S GARDEN

95% Merlot 5% Cabernet Franc.  Matured in selected French oak barrels for 12 months. The Cabernet Franc adds structure and complexity.  Hints of cherries and mint, meat spice and smoky undertones.  Rounded and accessible with balanced tannins for early drinking.                                     $29.99

 

2013 RENEGADE

49% Shiraz, 16% Mourvedre 35% Grenache.  Fermented in open tanks, gentle extraction by pumping over and then pressed and racked into second and third fill French Oak Barrels for 18 months. This elegant Rhone blend displays Old World Style and New World fruit. Hint of Grenache’s earthy rusticity and the noble spice, nutmeg and salty black olives from the Shiraz.                         $29.99

 

**2015 THE FMC

100% Chenin Blanc.  Hand selected from low yielding, old bush vines planted in 1974. Harvested at full maturity. Natural wild yeast fermented in new French Oak 100L barrels. Some botrytis is always present.  This is THE Iconic Chenin Blanc.  Rich, layered, dried apricots, vanilla and honey.  Can be cellared which will enhance complexity.                                                                                                    $55.99

 

2012 THE GYPSY

53% Grenache 41% Syrah 6% Mourvedre. Cool soaked prior to fermentation. Rested in new French Oak Barrels for 12 months. A further selection is done before blending and going into new French Oak barrels for another 12 months.  After 2 years, languishing in a cool cellar, The Gypsy is stable with oak and harmonized with fruit. Concentrated, layered, somewhat wild and a little brambly and spicy.  Great to keep for 10 years or more, or decanted and enjoyed.                                                              $55.99
