Thursday March 17th is St Patrick’s Day. If you choose to celebrate the Luck of the Irish, and are tired of the usual suspects - Guinness, Jameson’s Irish Whiskey or Bailey’s, we’ve got a couple of new green cocktails to brighten up your week!
Lucky 75
Using your favourite green liqueur ( Midori Melon, or Sourpuss Green Apple) splash some in the bottom of a pretty flute glass.
Top up with your favourite sparkling wine or Prosecco and a slice of melon or green apple, and Voila! A bright green fresh cocktail!
Or, if you’re health conscious, you could combine your green smoothie with a shot of vodka!
Ketel One Green Mary
1 oz Ketel One Family-Made Vodka
3.5 oz freshly juiced equal parts of celery and cucumber
.5 oz freshly squeezed lime
1 pinch of rock salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and dried chili flakes
Directions:
Add all ingredients to the glass, stir well, add ice. Garnish with a salted cucumber slice.
Recipe by Ketel One.
However, if you’re still wanting your Irish whiskey though, why not tart it up a bit and make one of these? It's not green, but we guarantee it will be festive!
Irish Canadian Old Fashioned
2 1/2 oz Jameson
tsp maple syrup
3-4 dashes of bitters
juice from half a lemon
twist or orange
Preparation
Combine the maple syrup and bitters in the bottom of a mixing glass, stir until well combined. Fill 2/3 of the glass with ice, then squeeze the lemon over the ice. Pour in Jameson and garnish with a twist or orange.
If that still doesn't tickle your Irish fancy, blend up a frosty Margarita. Afterall, it is green!
Slainte!
