It's not everyday we have celebrated international winemaker's in town, let alone at our store!   We are pleased to present Emily Faulconer, Wine Maker from  Vina Carmen.

Carmen is the first and oldest Chilean winery, founded in 1850 by Christian Lanz who named the winery after his wife. The rediscovery and first commercialisation of the Carmenere variety is attributed to Carmen. At age 32, Wine Maker Emily Faulconer has taken over the premium range of Carmen, focusing on producing wines showing specific varietal and terroir identity such as the Gran Reserva range we will be showcasing as well as the Gold Reserve. She will also be responsible for the continuation and strengthening of internationally acclaimed innovative projects that Carmen has launched recently, which have led it to position itself as one of the most innovative wineries in the country, acclaimed both national and internationally.

Faulconer studied Agricultural Engineering at the Universidad Católica de Chile. Her passion for what she does, has led her, among other things, to live for a year and a half in the Elqui Valley, leading the planning, operation and execution of the viticulture and oenological work of Viñedos Alcohuaz. She has also worked in wineries in the United States (Cakebread Cellars), New Zealand (Trinity Hill Winery) and France (Chateau Canon).

Faulconer has also previously worked as Chief Winemaker in Viña Arboleda, leading the viticulture and winemaking areas, focusing on the production of fine wines with a sense of origin. Prior to this she worked as assistant winemaker in Maquis and Viu Manent, both located in the Colchagua Valley.

Doña Paula is a modern producer, established in 1997 and based in Mendoza. The company only employs estate fruit from its plantings figuring over 700 ha. The top wines are terroir-expressive. It's 'a Matter of Altitude' and through research they are looking at expressing the different terroirs of Argentina. We will be showcasing their premium wines including their Altitude Series; Doña Paula 1100 & 1350, which are blends produced with the best varieties that grow in their highest altitude vineyards.

Join us on October 2, 2019 between 5:30pm and 8:30 pm to taste a selection of wines from both of these Iconic South American Wineries.  Stories and descriptions will be shared by Emily to enhance your knowledge and enjoyment of the wines.

Light appetizers will be served.

Kindly register if you plan to attend as space is limited plus we need to know how many wine glasses to prepare!

There is no charge for this event, so we appreciate that if you register your intention to attend, you will be there.
