As a small boutique retailer, our goal is always to bring you a selection of great products that you won't find everywhere.  This specialty market is challenging, but fun for us.

We've recently added some wines that meet this criteria.  Some you've been asking for and others are just too good not to offer to our special customers.  Check them out!  We'll be getting more in along with some other new and different wines in the coming months, so drop in often, or at least check out this site!

ATA RANGI  - MARTINBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND

Means “ Dawn Sky, New Beginning”

Produce arguably the best Pinot Noirs in New Zealand and are world class.  Small, family owned winery.

ATA RANGI CRIMSON PINOT NOIR  $43.99

Best value Pinot Noir in New Zealand.  Ripe cherry notes, and poached ripe plums, perfumed and earthy attributes. Superb, silky and seductive.

ATA RANGI PINOT NOIR  $94.99

Gentle, earthy, loamy  a complex melange of savoury and fruity tastes, a medium bodied, seductive and silky yet firm texture which allows it to age well.

MAJELLA VINEYARDS, COONAWARRA, AUSTRALIA   Family owned winery specializing in mostly red wines.

MAJELLA MUSICIAN    $23.99

Vibrant, unmistakably Coonawarra to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, and fine, elegant and juicy in the mouth. The wine is quite low in oak, with just a smidge of vanillin showing faintly on the mid palate, but otherwise the brambly, blackcurrant flavours demand all the attention. Fine, silky tannins integrated with the fruit and minimal oak produce an approachable well rounded wine with an extended length. Quite a complex wine!

BESTS WINERY , The Grampians, Victoria, Australia    150 year old vines predominantly Shiraz grapes

BESTS SPARKLING SHIRAZ  $37.99  Best’s Shiraz grapes for sparkling wine are picked early in the season, fermented in vats and a small amount of oak barrels. The wine is savoury and of medium body, retaining freshness as well as intensity over time. Best’s Winemaker, Justin Purser, is also a sparkling Shiraz believer, and has instigated his own changes to the sparkling production process, including using aged liqueur muscat from old Best’s casks as dosage liqueur.

HEARTLAND   Langhorne Creek, South Australia

HEARTLAND SHIRAZ   $21.99 The dark colour preempts a wine of dense, layered black fruit.  The aromas of anise and cracked pepper are enveloped in classic blackberry.  The glass coating texture gives way to freshness on the finish resulting in a fine balance.  The structure imparted by oak and skin contact integrates well with the bright, but intense fruit.

HEARTLAND DIRCTOR’S CUT SHIRAZ    - Flagship Wine    $35.99

The aromas are surprisingly diverse for such a young wine. Dark fruits envelope spice and herb characters that evolve in the glass. Directors’ Cut Shiraz is enhanced by judicious oak that gives a framework to the generous fruit. The lingering finish is typical of this wine and predicts a long and distinguished future.

HEARTLAND STICKLEBACK RED    $17.99   Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz give the wine a rich, savory character and great structure. Dolcetto lends brightness and lift, and contributes spice, tannins and a fresh, crisp acidity to the plate.

HEARTLAND DOLCETTO    $21.99   The brightness and depth of Lagrein complement the floral and fruit driven Dolcetto. Deep ruby in colour, it enjoys all the aromas of a garden in Spring. The soft palate offers blackberry, liquorice and violets and a long savoury finish.  This is the most versatile wine in the Heartland range for food pairing.

SOME YOUNG PUNKS WINERY  MCLAREN VALE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

SYP NAKED ON ROLLER SKATES   $25.99  Inky purple. Brooding aromas of cassis, licorice and cocoa powder are lifted by a floral nuance. Fat, sweet and seamless, offering pliant dark fruit liqueur flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes with smooth building tannins and very good length.

SUR ANDES MALBEC RESERVE , ARGENTINA    $20.99   “All grapes are carefully selected from a small number of vineyards in the two prime zones of Mendoza in Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco.”

Selected grapes from Agrelo and Uco Valley are treated to long maceration and 12 months of oak treatment to produce this delicious, intensely fruity Malbec that features notes of blueberry and boysenberry with a touch of minerality.

GRAND VERDUS  WINERY   BORDEAUX, FRANCE    The history of Le Grand Verdus wine is also that of the Château, which dates from the Renaissance, and of the Le Grix de la Salle family, who decided after World War II to grow their little vineyard into a renowned winemaking enterprise.

GRAND VERDUS GENERATION   - Bordeaux Superior   $25.99   55% Merlot 45% Cabernet Franc

“Naughty” Cabernet-Franc grape variety, still associated with Merlot, our main cultivar. This Cuvée is a blend of youth, wisdom and experience, the same as the successive family Generations that have crafted it.

WATER WHEEL WINES  Bridgewater near Bendigo, Victoria, Australia   Family Owned since early 1800’s.

WATER WHEEL CHARDONNAY   $22.99  Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Intense ripe peach, tropical fruit and honeycomb aromas leap from the glass followed by some nougat and spice. Rich and creamy in texture the palate is a real mouthful of flavour featuring ripe peaches, honeycomb, subtle cashew, nougat and spice. Excellent concentration and viscosity finishing with soft acidity and a long aftertaste of ripe peaches, apricots, honeycomb and spicy nougat.

LITTLE ENGINES WINES Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, B.C.

The children’s fable of the Little Engine personifies will and determination, a winery dedicated to these same pursuits seemed befitting of the same title and so became, Little Engine Wines.

LITTLE ENGINE CHARDONNAY   SILVER   $44.99

This vintage exhibits enticing aromatics of stone fruits and poached pear with underlying notes of vanilla and creamy cashews.  With only a portion of the pressed juices seeing French oak, the palate is bright with citrus notes and fresh cut pineapple that slowly unveils characteristics of buttered toast with a thin layer of marmalade. This is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay that has encouraged many to re-discover the merits of a well-made Chardonnay.
