Hi there, my name is Jennifer and I’d like to introduce myself as Aligra Wine and Spirits’ newest team member.  I started with Aligra in January 2020 with plans to share my passion for my favourite spirit, whisky.  I’ve already held an Irish whiskey tasting and have begun making small changes to the whisky section in the store.  I hope you’ll come in to check us out. So, where did this passion all begin?

My love for whisky started sometime in 2017 with a Crown Royal and cranberry juice cocktail. That’s not something I would imbibe on anymore but it seems that Crown Royal makes a fantastic gateway into whisky.  Soon after that, I discovered there was so much more to learn and I wanted to taste everything.  Nowadays, the mix and ice are gone and I have approximately 100 different whiskies in my personal collection.  I’ve also taken courses to become a Bourbon Steward and a Whisky Ambassador.

I hope you’ll stay tuned as I have plans to introduce different whiskies to Aligra, ones that I feel are great recommendations for any budget.  In addition to my monthly staff pick, I’ll also be choosing different spirits and providing a bit of background on something I feel is interesting that you might not know. I’m also looking forward to holding whisky education/tasting events for the store.  Currently, I am working on a tasting/education online event featuring scotch for Robbie Burns Day.  I hope you’ll keep posted for upcoming dates.
