Ken is a retired school teacher from the Edmonton Catholic School Board, who, upon his retirement,  decided to pursue a lifelong dream. He completed his International Sommelier Guild studies, and graduated with his Diploma as a Certified Sommelier  in early 2011.

Ken loves wines!  And he has an amazing nose!  Ken can pick up nuances in wine, that when I listen to him describe a wine he's tasting,  baffle me.  
In addition to his great nose, turns out his vocal chords are pretty  good too. He has had a couple of years of formal opera training and he plys his talents at church where  he is a cantor and lead the congregation in singing.
More of Ken's talents include cooking and baking, and he's always scouring magazines and cookbooks for new recipes. He and his wife love entertaining, and it often happens that a bottle or two of wine from the cellar will show up at the dinner table!

Oh and did I mention his dry sense of humour?

Ken has been an important part of Aligra Wine & Spirits since 2010.  He regularly conducts our monthly tasting classes in the store, coming up with some fascinating wines to elevate our knowledge in a subject you can never know enough of.   He also is hired to carry out various tastings around Edmonton ranging from wine tastings to Tequila, Rums and even Craft Beers.
