OTBN
Since the millennium, a night in the dull dark month of February has been brightened for wine lovers by the creation of a day to celebrate cherished bottles of wine, champagne and spirits.
Open That Bottle Nite was created by New York Times “Tasting” columnists Dorthy Gaiter and John Brechner to motivate people to reconnect with each other over a favourite bottle, and create more good memories with friends and family.
Wine is more than the liquid in the bottle.It’s about history, geography, relationships and all important things in your life.
This year it will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Now is the time to start planning OTBN, from the people you will share with to the special wine you will enjoy with them.
Chose your wine or spirit, it does not have to be your best or most impressive bottle, but a bottle that means the most to you, and one that you would simply not open just “any time”.
You are looking for a bottle full of memories!
If you chose to have a OTBN party, ask everyone to share a few words about their significant wine they brought.
Remember, everyone has that “one” wine that seems too special to open.
You all know how it is, “oh…lets save it for a special occasion “ and then there never seems to be that occasion.
The bottle sits there…..dying.
There are bottles of wine out there sitting and literally being loved to death.
