Ken's Pick   (Marananga Creek, McLaren Vale, Australia)

Two Hands Angels' Share Shiraz 2022 13.9% abv.

Tasting Notes: Two Hands was established in September 1999 when founders Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz sat at a friend’s engagement party and decided it was time to make their own wine and market it on the world stage. The original aim was, and still is, to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized growing regions throughout Australia. This expression is still quite young: inky purple/black in color, with a deep magenta rim. The aromas are heady and layered: loam, tobacco, violets, black plum, black currant, toasty oak. The palate showcases how extracted this wine is; gushing with ripe fruit, full body, medium grain integrated tannins, black cherry, dark berries, ollaliberries, boysenberries, black olive paste, dark chocolate, and a great white pepper bite on the back palate. Everything is so balanced, and dee-lish! Pair with roasts, grilled meats, hard cheeses, selected company! Drink now-probably 2029 ish.

Price: $35.99 750 ml

Harry's Pick   (United States)

Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon 50.50% Alc

Tasting Notes: Wild Turkey® 101 is a bold, genuine, and unapologetic American classic, crafted by legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, in the heart of Kentucky. For over 60 years, Wild Turkey has been making the 101- proof bourbon one way — the right way — cutting no corners in the pursuit of the perfect Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Aged longer than legally required in American white oak barrels with the deepest char, Wild Turkey® 101 has an impossible-to-miss character. Its high rye content and the 101 proof result in a full-bodied flavor with hints of vanilla and orange peel. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is highly enjoyable neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail — especially the cocktail that rules them all: the Old Fashioned. As the name implies, the Old Fashioned is one of the oldest mixed drinks in the cocktail canon — some say the oldest. Ordering one at a bar will likely earn you an approving nod from the barkeep, but it’s also the perfect cocktail for any bourbon lover to master at home. Whether you are entertaining friends or lounging on your couch, its simple ingredients, easy assembly method, and whiskey-forward flavor profile make this the quintessential bourbon cocktail for any occasion.

Ken's Pick   (Mantinia, Peloponnese Peninsula, Greece)

Lafazanis Geometria Moschofilero 2023 12% abv

Tasting Notes: Moschofilero is a pink-skinned, aromatic grape variety grown mainly on Greece's Peloponnese peninsula. It has been said that there is no single Moschofilero, only many mutations of the ancient "Fileri" grape family from Peloponnese. A beautiful gold color with copper tints (6 hours skin contact before vinification), it has aromas of Granny Smith apple, pear syrup, washed stones. The full palate shows quince, lemon curd, honeysuckle, mineral and bok choy. Smooth texture; almost olive oil. Pair with moussaka, spanakopita, mezze. Drink now.
